Viewing a Shared Chat

When someone shares a chat with you, you can view the full conversation in a read-only format. This guide explains what to expect and how to navigate the shared chat.

Accessing a shared chat

Open the link that was shared with you. The link follows the format /ai/{chat-id}. You must be signed in to your workspace account to view the chat.

If you are not signed in, you will be redirected to the login page. After signing in, you will be taken to the shared chat.

What you will see

Conversation transcript

The main area displays the full conversation between the user and the AI, shown in chronological order. Each message shows:

  • User messages: The prompts and follow-ups the chat owner typed.
  • AI responses: The agent's replies, including formatted text, code blocks, and lists.
  • Tool calls: If the AI used tools during the conversation (such as searching documents, querying data, or running code), you can expand these to see the tool name, inputs, and results. Tool call details are expanded by default in shared chat views.

Sidebar (desktop only)

On larger screens, a sidebar appears on the right side with metadata about the chat:

  • Owner: The name of the person who created and owns the chat.
  • Chat: The label or title of the conversation.
  • Agent: The name of the agent used, if the chat was with a specific agent.
  • Prompts: The total number of user messages in the conversation.

The sidebar is hidden on smaller screens to maximize reading space.

Limitations

As a shared chat viewer, you are in read-only mode:

  • The message input field is disabled and displays "Read-only chat."
  • You cannot send new messages, edit existing ones, or continue the conversation.
  • You cannot share the chat with additional people.
  • You cannot delete or modify the chat in any way.

If you need to continue the conversation or make changes, ask the chat owner to grant you edit access or to start a new chat.

If you cannot access a shared chat

If you see an error when opening a shared chat link:

  • Confirm you are signed in to the correct workspace.
  • Ask the person who shared the link to verify that your account or group has been added in the share dialog.
  • If you were recently added to a group that has access, try refreshing the page.
